    Pound and Kelly

I was just curious as to what has happened to the Pound and Kelly programs. I have been in the millitary and just recently got out and was catching up on some things. It seems as though the past couple of years have been tough on the programs. I have family from both towns and remember a couple years ago they fielded some of the best teams in the district. Kelly had some great players with Logan Williams, Gabe Barnette, Ross Clisso, his little brother, Tommy Asbury, Adam Dotson. While Pound had Derek Hubbard, Jeff Martin, Brandon Cantrell, Adam Delforge, Andrew Shortt and William Bolling.

Was it a drop in talent or what. I know both teams has some rough years before that stretch, and you would think the younger kids would feed off that. Just looking for some feedback.

Well, one problem is called graduation!!!

Also, I know the feeder system in Pound is always solid. they have been taught the fundamentals and are very well disciplined. They also win Super Bowls in their age groups-usually one every year of the three divisions. However, this has never been able to be translated into success at the upper level. The coaching staff seems competent, I think the kids lose interest.

As for Kelly, they had a super coach and some things happened, and he is no longer there. They appear to be on the upswing this year, but only time and victories will tell!!!!!!!!!

Cycles-plain and simple. At JJK the last few years, our best athletes have been the ladies. We simply do not have enough quality male athletes. We have some starting to show up, and alot in the youth leagues. This happens everywhere (unless you have 5000 in your school), and at JJK we are trying to battle through it.

I would never have imagined that Kelly would be hurting like that. When i was in high school they were always breeding huge, fast, strong athletic kids. Times are changing way to much for me......lol

A also noticed neither of the coaches(Baker or Saunders) are their anymore. Also seems the assistants they had are gone. Could this be a problem

Also does anyone have info has to why these 2 are no longer there.

    Re: Pound and Kelly

At JJK (like every other school) alot of folks have moved away, and the numbers aren't what they were back then. Yes we are considered a "big" school, but not really when you compare where we rank in the state as far as largest enrollment in Single A. We just seem "big" because the other schools around here are so small.

Another thing: Once things get on the upswing, B.I. will start seeing his numbers soar. It happened to Saunders, it happens whenever success occurs. Winning breeds the desire to participate.

    Re: Pound and Kelly

Was B.I the coach of St.Paul a couple years back. If so he did a good job of turning that program around so they should be in pretty good hands then.
